Yesterday , one day awareness camp was conducted at paddar in last village , named SUM CHAN, in the UT of J&K, next to it is Padam lies in the Zanskar Range . In the Camp,people were updated about the various departmental activities and also encouraged to rare merino or any other good species of sheep About the organic desi pottery/chicken, they were taught to start rear in the month of April and can sell out their chicken after 3-4 month to get good returns, due to huge demand in the cities. Women were also taught about various preservatives techniques of achar making of seasonal vegetables/ chicken. Apart from this, they were also encouraged for trout fish farming ,due to huge availability of glacier melted water as on 12.08.2023

Vikas Sharma (JKAS), aiming towards realizing Prime Minister’s vision of doubling farmers’ income and uplifting the Agriculture/ Horticulture sector of J&K, the department of Horticulture Planning & Marketing in collaboration with Invest India (ODOP Team) organized first of its kind Mega Buyer-Seller meet at Kolkata on 3rd Dec 2022. Around 250 participants consisting of buyers from Kolkata, officials of Government of West Bengal, President of Confederation of West Bengal Trade Association and officials of the Horticulture Planning & Marketing attended the event including sellers from J&K- farmers, SHGs, FPOs and entrepreneurs of J&K hailing from different corners of J&K; from remote areas of Kashmir to even border areas of Jammu which were facilitated to travel to Kolkata for meeting delegation of Buyers consisting of big merchants, exporters and giant corporations. The meet was graced by Hon’ble Agriculture Minister of West Bengal Sh.
